Our Family Law Practice Group is headed by Accredited Specialists, Chris Dunn and Carolyn Munk, both Directors of the firm. Our group offers expertise and practical legal advice for a range of family law issues, assisting you through difficult times and enabling you to regain control over your life.
Each Family Law matter is unique. Each person has their own concerns. Whether you are in a marriage, de facto, or same sex relationship, breakdowns can trigger disputes involving a number of personal and financial issues. We take the time to work with you to achieve your desired outcome.
Depending on your wishes, we can endeavour to resolve the matter outside the court process or, if necessary, use our litigation expertise to obtain the best result for you in court.
Our approach is to listen to you and learn about your personal circumstances. We then discuss with you the possible ways forward and the pros and cons of each alternative. This approach includes:
- outlining your particular legal rights regarding children, property and maintenance;
- explaining the process of the different stages of court proceeding that you may be involved in;
- advising you of the possibility of resolving or narrowing the issues in dispute by using services such as counselling, mediation and conciliation;
- advising you as to whether your matter is appropriate for the collaborative law process with the aim to resolve all issues in dispute without the need to go to court;
- checking any agreement you have made and telling you how it can be changed or enforced; and
- negotiating an agreement in relation to financial or parenting matters for you.
